Merry-go-round

When I close my eyes
I picture a home,
is a little faraway
and a little torn down.

When I open the door
a radio is playing on the background
and a man is dancing to the sound
of an old old love song.

He takes my hand
and walks me to the dance floor,
he wonders aloud
Do I remember this song?
It's the song of our love...

We waltz to the sound,
to the song of my soul!

And I go round and round,
turn around,
on the merry go round!

With my eyes still closed
it seems like I'm turning around
like a child in disguise
playing to be grown-up

But when I open my eyes
I'm walking forward in time,
in this merry go round
you called life
you are walking backwards!

With my eyes still closed
I hear children
playing in the front porch,
I don't need to open my eyes
to picture your toothless smile.

You are rocking me back and forth
forth and back in the memory swing,
there's a swing to your step
when you sway me around and around

We waltz to the sound,
to the song of my soul!

And I go round and round,
turn around,
on the merry go round!

With my eyes still closed
it seems like I'm turning around
like a child in disguise
playing to be grown-up

But when I open my eyes
I'm walking forward in time,
in this merry go round
you called life
you are walking backwards!

The sweet dreams lullaby
becomes silent,
I wake up to the sound
of your absence.

I waltz to the sound,
to the song of my soul!

And I go round and round,
turn around,
on the merry go round
you called life,
but when I open my eyes
I'm not running a perfect circle
where I'll meet you again,
I'm dancing forward in a spiral,
the highway to the end.

I go round and round,
and turn around,
on this merry go round,
you are a picture
in my background,
and some times,
on lonely days
an old stereo tape
still plays
our love song
and I waltz round a round,
turn around,
with your phantom
on this merry go round!
